About Us:
When I moved to Napa, the one thing I looked forward to was getting a small flock of chickens for my backyard. I started researching breeds, equipment, care, anything I could to be prepared for the day I brought my chickens home.
I bought eggs for hatching and had a friend incubate them. We had a very poor hatch, 3 of 25. These were supposed to be Mille Fleur Bantam Cochins. I got one Mille Fleur, one Black Mottled and one Red. My little flock of bantams turned out to be more of a grab bag when I added two Sicilian Buttercup chicks that were supposed to be female. As we all know, sexing in chicks is not a 100% guarantee and I ended up with the rooster in the picture above. I did rehome him and he lives a lovely life out of town with a big flock to care for.
I've recently added Polish to the flock as I love their funny hair-do's and personalities.
I have several other rare breeds available, all breeds are listed on our Available Chicks page.
After a two year hiatus, I am back to hatching and have been joined by my partner in chickens and life: Jim Cutler. Jim has jumped in full force and LOVES our chickens! His excitement and enthusiasm has helped me expand the breeds I raise.
I do live in town and am lucky my municipality allows chickens. My chicks are kept clean and are interacted with daily. If you want a backyard flock, socialization is very important. It is no fun to have a pen-raised chick who is terrified when you approach. Our adults come running when called and often sit on our laps when we relax outside.
All the ups and downs and learning the hard way is something I would never trade, but wouldn't wish on anyone else! I want to share my knowledge of chickens and help you to make the best buying decision!

By completing your purchase you agree to all terms and conditions listed below.
How Do I Pay?
We are cash only. We can no longer accept checks or paypal. Please bring exact change.
Do You Accept Returns?
Due to the possibility of cross contamination of our own flocks and that of others we can not take anything back that may have come in to contact with outside chickens. Even if your chickens came from us, they can develop their own microbes that do not sicken them, but when introduced into a new flock can sicken or kill.
We do not accept returns on chicks, juveniles, or adults due to biosecurity reasons.

Do You Offer a Health Guarantee?
I offer a 48 hour guarantee on animals kept in appropriate conditions. If you set your coop up in the sun and the chicken suffers, that is on you. If you don't feed or water it appropriately, that is on you too. If the chicken is happy, healthy and the next day is sick, contact us. Our chickens are vaccinated against Marek's Disease.
How Accurate is Your Sexing?
We offer a 90% guarantee on sexing. This is industry standard. Sorry, but we are unable to take any cockerels back that may have slipped through.
Bantams are not guaranteed to be sexed at any point. We can give our best guess on older birds, but it is not guaranteed.

Can I reserve birds?
We are sorry, but we are no longer accepting reservations. We encourage you to follow us on Facebook and come by as soon as the birds you want are available.

Can I buy just pullet?
We do not sell just one animal. Chickens are flock animals, they need companionship or they will suffer. A single juvenile introduced to a flock will be ostracized and picked on. For these reasons, we ask that you either already juvenile of the same age or you purchase two.
Can we visit your birds?
We take biosecurity very seriously and we do not allow visitors to our breeding birds. The birds you are buying will be boxed up and ready to go when you arrive. We will happily open the boxes for you to see them prior to taking them home.
